Our notes

FileThat is pay-per-submission MTD software for VAT and Income Tax, covering self-employment, UK property and foreign property, with record keeping or spreadsheet upload. There is no subscription; each new quarterly update uses a paid credit after 4 free sign-up credits.

Pros

  • Final declaration, amendments and NIL VAT returns never use a credit
  • No subscription; credits don't expire
  • Annual cap for individuals (£55 maximum in a tax year)
  • Self-employment, UK and foreign property supported

Cons

  • Quarterly updates are paid after the first 4 free credits
  • Each business needs its own quarterly updates, so credits double with two income sources
  • VAT treatment of prices not stated
